If I had one wish as an automotive enthusiast, I would want Stephan Winkelmann to run my favourite brand.
This is simply an admiration post for a man who, in my opinion, knows better than anyone else how to make a brand more desirable.
Wherever he goes, he doesn't just launch new cars. He creates future icons.
Right from his first stint at Lamborghini, through his time at Bugatti, and now back again for a second stint at Lamborghini, he's been behind some of the most unforgettable special editions we have ever seen.
He gave us the Reventón (my dream Lamborghini of all time). Then came the Sesto Elemento, Veneno, and Centenario. During his time at Bugatti, he launched the Divo, La Voiture Noire, Centodieci, and even the Bolide. Most recently, back at Lamborghini, he has brought us the modern-day Countach, the Invencible & Auténtica, and now, the Fenomeno twins (Coupe and the Roadster).
And these are just the special editions.
He also gave us engineering marvels like the Aventador, Huracán, Lamborghini's breadwinner today, the Urus, and the latest hybrid twins, the Revuelto and Temerario. At Bugatti too, he signed off on the Chiron Pur Sport and the Super Sport 300+.
I believe he understood, far before most of us, that horsepower, lap records, and technology may eventually be surpassed and become outdated.
But desire, however, is truly the rarest commodity of them all.
