The great thing about being unemployed right now, you ask me?
Being able to binge-watch the new TheGrandTour before any of you guys... I guess that's nice, right?
Anyways, what I wanted to say is, good God, it is fun! For all the doubters, naysayers, people who thought it would not stand up to the era of the great Hammond, May, and Clarkson.... sure, but it is not meant to!
It was so much fun in its own fun (and funny) way!
Without spoiling too much, the topics they chose (spoiler alert, stop reading if you want to avoid any), like the sublte dig of EVs, the push against bloating of the cars in size for no good reason, and a whole lot more, are just perfect for all the car-lovers. It has all the flavors of the past, but made in a modern way... think "Progressive Cuisine."
Trust me when I say this, you will finish the series with a wide smile on your face!
Sure, not everything is perfect... I did find that there were too many cuts in each episode, they did not flow all too well, and I think I spotted a fake flame graphic from the exhaust in an episode. Tell me if you spot it too or if I am wrong.
But I am willing to give all of these a pass only and only because... hey, for a first series, they did great. It is a completely new direction from what we are used to, and in a nice way!
Overall, I genuinely think this is set up to become a great show in its own right!
