Brace yourselves people, the TESLA ROADSTER is finally coming...
9 years in the making, and finally set to reveal on October 1st. Now that's a product journey and a half!
But it makes you think, how much more significant can it be compared to high performance EVs? How does it fit in with the brand ethos that is now completely different to what it was back in the day?
If you look past the delays, looks like Elon has figured that out... Or at least that's what I feel based on the speculations! The picture on the website, when flipped upside down as I added here, showcases a completely different back end and 4 supposed exhaust-like exits.
So... Elon wasn't kidding when he said he would add thrusters to the Roadster?
I think that speculation alone will drive a lot of conversation and interest around the Roadster. If not, and the specs are similar to when they initially launched in 2017, it falls flat, unfortunately.
1.9 seconds to 60mph is what they claimed back then... Rimac Nevera R, Lucid Air Sapphire, and McMurtry Spéirling Pure, all different (in terms of usage) cars, beat that comfortably. Their Model S Plaid can almost match that, and that's a 4-door car.
250 mph claim, beaten comfortably by the Yangwang and Rimac. 10,000 Nm torque band beaten by Rimac Never R with 13,430 Nm at the wheel.
BUT, back in 2021, there were teasers about the "SpaceX package" with a claim of 1.1 seconds to 60 mph. With again, rumored, cold gas thrusters in the back.
Now, with this image on the Tesla website, I am almost certain we will get to see these thrusters in the back!
